X introduces private History tab to simplify content tracking and discovery

X has introduced a new “History” tab that brings together liked posts, bookmarks, watched videos, and articles into one dedicated section inside the app. The feature is currently rolling out for iOS users.

The new History section is divided into 4 categories — Bookmarks, Likes, Videos, and Articles — making it easier for users to return to content they previously engaged with. While bookmarks and likes are manually saved by users, the Videos and Articles sections are expected to update automatically based on viewing and reading activity on the platform.

As part of the update, X has also renamed the existing “Bookmarks” option in the mobile side menu to “History.” The company says the feature is aimed at helping users quickly continue reading articles or watching videos they may not have finished earlier.

Nikita Bier said the feature is designed to improve content accessibility and make revisiting saved or consumed content more seamless for users. X also confirmed that the History section will remain private and visible only to individual users.

The feature combines tools that were previously spread across different areas of the app. Earlier, bookmarks were available in the side menu, while liked posts could only be accessed through user profiles.

The rollout reflects X’s larger strategy to position itself beyond short-form social networking and strengthen its focus on video content, long-form publishing, and creator-led experiences. The company appears to be encouraging users to spend more time consuming content directly within the platform rather than moving to external websites.

The update follows several recent changes on X, including improvements to creator tools, messaging capabilities, and AI-powered platform features.
