Vivo has expanded its software ecosystem with the global launch of OriginOS 7, bringing an Android 17-based interface, a cross-device AI assistant and new performance features to select Vivo and iQOO devices.
The update was announced Monday after the launch of the Vivo X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max in China. It has also introduced the OriginOS 7 Preview Programme in select markets, including India, Thailand and Malaysia.
The preview rollout will begin with the Vivo X300 Pro and “select iQOO devices”. It will later reach the Vivo X500 series, the new Vivo X Fold and the V series.
A major addition is Jovi AI, which Vivo describes as a “cross-device personal agent”. The assistant can manage “complex workflows” between smartphones and desktop computers through Vivo Office Kit. For example, users can ask Jovi to find a project spreadsheet on a home computer, summarise its figures and send the key points to a phone through a single prompt.
Jovi AI can also handle scheduled tasks, such as preparing weekly reports and organising files at set intervals. Its Jovi Security feature “explicitly” records “every autonomous action an agent takes”, providing users with visibility into its activity. Users must authorise Jovi AI for key actions.
OriginOS 7 also introduces the next-generation Origin Smooth Engine, redesigned for “graphics computation, memory management, and system scheduling”. Ultra-Core Computing dynamically allocates processing resources based on system demand.
Vivo claims the engine cuts app launch time by 10 percent and improves app page switching by 11 percent. Memory Fusion offers 60 percent more memory reclamation and can free up to 25GB of additional storage on a 256GB device. Updated Dual Rendering improves rendering efficiency by 14.4 percent.
The software also adds Origin Animation with Fluid Motion, including “Spring Animation” and “Seamless Interaction”. The Cross-Ecosystem Connectivity suite enables task handoffs and real-time note synchronisation through Vivo Office Kit across iPad, Mac and Windows.
