Marking a major milestone, Sony is preparing to launch a new set of high-end headphones as it celebrates 10 years of its popular noise-cancelling lineup.
Sony is expected to announce its latest premium headphones, called ColleXion, on May 19. The launch coincides with the 10-year anniversary of its first MDR-1000X model. The upcoming headphones were briefly listed on Sony’s New Zealand and Australia websites before being removed, and are expected to feature a sleek white finish as part of the well-known WH-1000X series.
High pricing and advanced noise cancellation
The ColleXion headphones are set to come with advanced active noise cancellation powered by a MediaTek chip. This is aimed at delivering a distraction-free listening experience.
In terms of pricing, the headphones are expected to cost over $630, or around €629 in Europe. This marks a noticeable increase compared to the usual pricing of the WH-1000XM6 models.
The new headphones will be manufactured in Vietnam and are expected to retain a familiar design language. They are clearly targeted at users looking for top-tier audio performance from Sony’s premium lineup.
