Following recent software updates, a growing number of Pixel users are reporting unexpected battery performance issues across multiple device generations.
Google rolled out its Pixel feature drop in March 2026, followed by another update in April. While these updates introduced new features, users have flagged severe battery drain problems soon after installation. Reports shared on online forums and support platforms suggest that the issue is affecting Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8, Pixel 9, and Pixel 10 devices.
Several users have reported excessive battery loss even when their phones are idle. In some cases, devices are losing significant charge despite being in airplane mode. One user claimed their phone lost a large amount of battery within 5–6 hours under such conditions.
Discussion around the issue has gained traction, with one thread receiving over 600 comments within 10 days of the April update. While the exact cause remains unclear, user observations point to excessive CPU wakeups and the device failing to enter Deep Doze mode. This results in background processes continuing to run even when the screen is off.
Another user stated, “Exynos baseband/GNSS module is caught in a persistent polling loop, causing a hardware interrupt storm even when the device is completely isolated in Aeroplane Mode with all radios manually toggled off”.
Google has acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating. The company has asked affected users to submit detailed bug reports to better understand background activity and identify the app or process responsible.
A fix has not yet been released, but it is expected that the company may address the issue in a future update, possibly with the May 2026 patch.
