State Bank of India (SBI) has advised customers to complete important branch-related banking transactions in advance of a proposed three-day nationwide bank strike scheduled from September 28 to 30, 2026.
The strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) as part of its ongoing protest action. The union forum had also conducted a nationwide strike on September 11 and has announced another continuous strike beginning October 26.
SBI has urged customers to plan transactions that require a physical branch visit, staff assistance, document verification or other in-person services before the strike period. Such services may face delays or limited availability depending on employee participation across locations.
The bank said it is taking steps to maintain essential banking services during the proposed strike. However, branch operations could be affected in areas where participation is significant.
For routine banking needs, SBI has advised customers to use alternative channels. ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs) can be used for cash-related requirements, while Customer Service Points (CSPs) will remain available for select services.
Customers can also use SBI’s digital platforms, including internet banking, mobile banking, YONO and Unified Payments Interface (UPI), for fund transfers, payments and other everyday transactions.
However, services involving physical documents, certain cheque-related processes and other branch-dependent activities may be affected during the strike.
With September 26 and 27 falling on a weekend, the proposed September 28-30 strike could effectively result in a five-day period with limited access to regular weekday branch services. Customers are therefore advised to complete essential branch transactions ahead of the disruption.
