Redmi Turbo 5 India variant arrives with massive battery and fast charging support

Ahead of its official debut in India, new details about the Redmi Turbo 5 have been revealed through official teasers. The upcoming smartphone is set to arrive with a slightly smaller battery than its Chinese counterpart while retaining several key features, including fast charging and a powerful MediaTek processor.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is confirmed to feature a 7,540mAh battery in India, compared to the 7,560mAh battery offered in the Chinese version. Despite the minor difference in capacity, the device will continue to support 100W wired fast charging.

The smartphone will come equipped with a dual rear camera setup, led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. For selfies and video calls, users will get a 20-megapixel front-facing camera.

While the exact screen size has not yet been disclosed, Redmi has confirmed that the handset will feature a 1.5K resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the device will be the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM. The smartphone will also support up to 12GB of virtual RAM expansion.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is scheduled to launch in India on June 16 and will be available through Amazon India and Mi.com.

The smartphone was first introduced in China in January with a starting price of CNY 2,299, which is approximately Rs. 30,000, for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. In the Chinese market, the device is available in Auspicious Cloud White, Shadow Black, and Shallow Sea Blue colour options.

The Chinese variant features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display and comes with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. With its large battery, high-refresh-rate display, capable camera setup, and powerful chipset, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to strengthen Redmi’s position in the premium mid-range smartphone segment in India.
