With online fraud and digital threats becoming increasingly common, Lucknow Police is organising a public awareness campaign to help citizens improve their cybersecurity practices. Under Operation Digital Kavach, online sessions will be conducted daily from October 22 to 31 as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2026.

The Uttar Pradesh Cyber Crime Headquarters will organise the sessions, with the initiative promoted by the Crime Branch of Lucknow Police. The programme will feature 8 expert-led sessions covering common cyber risks and ways to stay safe online.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kiran Yadav said the sessions will be livestreamed at 11 am on the Uttar Pradesh Police’s official YouTube platform.

Topics covered in the sessions

The campaign will address different cybersecurity concerns on the following dates:

  • October 22: Recovering money lost to cyber fraud
  • October 23: Understanding frozen bank accounts

Practical guidance on preventing cyber fraud

According to ADCP Kiran Yadav, the sessions will offer practical advice on identifying scams, protecting financial information, securing devices and responding to cyber offences. Key areas will include financial fraud, phishing, malware and the dangers of downloading applications from unverified sources.

Police said that as more people adopt digital services, preventive awareness has become important in reducing cybercrime. The campaign aims to help citizens safeguard their bank accounts, personal information and online identities.

How to join the sessions

Residents are encouraged to attend the livestreams and share the information with family, friends and community groups. Session details and viewing links will be shared through the department’s official social media accounts, including X and Instagram at @lkopolice, its Facebook page and @lucknowcyberpolice.

The initiative is part of Lucknow Police’s ongoing efforts to improve public awareness and help citizens respond to evolving online threats.
