The next iQOO flagship is set to arrive in China later this month, with the company revealing its launch date and 3 colour variants. The iQOO 16 is also expected to bring major display and camera upgrades over its predecessor.

The Vivo sub-brand announced that the iQOO 16 will launch in China on September 29. The event will begin at 7:00 pm local time, or 4:30 pm IST. The phone will be available in 3 colour options: “Chasing Light”, “Legendary”, and “Racing Track”, translated from Chinese.

The “Chasing Light” variant will feature a laser holographic rear panel with red and blue hues over a silver base. The “Legendary” version will use “magnetron sputtering electroplating technology” with a 670nm thick electroplating film over a white finish. The “Racing Track” edition is inspired by the purple paint used on F1 cars.

The iQOO 16 was recently confirmed to feature a 2K-resolution display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. It will use Samsung’s latest AMOLED panel with the M16 luminescent material. The phone will also feature Samsung’s 2nd-generation LEAD technology, known as LEAD 2.0.

The display is expected to offer up to 2,800 nits of global peak brightness and up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness. It will also support up to 3,300Hz PWM dimming and carry TÜV Rheinland certifications for Global Eye Protection and Unpolarized Light.

In terms of design, the iQOO 16 will get a redesigned square-shaped rear camera module with a triple camera setup. The company says its “robotic arm” design, translated from Chinese, will visually connect the camera lenses.

The new phone is also teased to deliver notable camera improvements over its predecessor.
