Expanding its footprint in India, Illumia has launched a new office for its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Chennai, underlining its long-term commitment to the country as a key hub for technology and product development. The facility, located at International Tech Park, was inaugurated on April 27 in the presence of senior leadership.
The move builds on nearly 14 years of Illumia’s operations in Chennai, reinforcing the city’s role as a central technology base for the company. The GCC currently employs around 80 professionals working across technology, product, cloud, and business functions such as finance, marketing, and human resources.
The Chennai centre will expand its capabilities in critical areas including cloud engineering, information security, and product engineering. These focus areas align with Illumia’s broader strategy to strengthen its global delivery systems and product capabilities.
To support this growth, the company has announced active hiring for specialized roles in cloud engineering, information security, and product engineering. These positions are essential for scaling its global technology platform.
Highlighting the importance of the region, CEO Greg Brown said India offers strong technical talent and noted that the Chennai team is playing a key role in advancing product, engineering, and operational capabilities for future growth. General Manager Srinivasgopal Raman added that the local team is focused on building expertise across cloud, security, and product engineering to support the company’s next phase.
Illumia, part of Roper Technologies, delivers platforms that support payments, access, foodservice, and credentialing systems for more than 10000 institutions worldwide. The Chennai GCC serves as a critical extension of its global product and engineering teams, driving development and support functions.
The expansion also reflects a wider trend of global companies increasing investments in India through capability centres focused on engineering and product innovation. Chennai continues to attract such investments due to its skilled talent pool, strong infrastructure, and cost advantages.
With the new facility and ongoing recruitment, Illumia’s Chennai GCC is expected to grow in both scale and scope, positioning itself as a key driver of innovation and global delivery.
