Hindustan Zinc, a part of the Vedanta Group, has announced a major ₹2,000 crore investment plan focused on integrating artificial intelligence into its mining and manufacturing operations. The announcement was made during Zinnovation 2026.

The initiative is aimed at improving productivity, reducing operational costs, and increasing energy efficiency across the company’s operations through advanced AI-powered systems.

As part of the expansion, Hindustan Zinc is partnering with V-Spark DeepTech Ventures along with more than 50 startups. Together, they will work on over 100 projects focused on digital transformation and industrial innovation.

The company said the projects will focus on creating safer workplaces, enabling faster decision-making, and strengthening ESG goals related to environmental, social, and governance practices.

Chairperson Priya Agarwal Hebbar highlighted the company’s technology-focused vision, saying, “At Hindustan Zinc, we are embedding technology directly into the core of our operations to prove that an industry traditionally defined by grit can be led by data.”

The company believes AI will play a major role in reshaping traditional industries by making operations more efficient and data-driven.

Akarsh Hebbar from V-Spark DeepTech Ventures also emphasized the financial potential of AI investments. According to him, AI-driven initiatives could generate 3 to 4 times higher returns, making the technology both strategically and financially valuable.

The move reflects a growing trend among industrial companies adopting AI solutions to modernize operations, improve sustainability, and boost long-term growth.
