Subject to regulatory approvals from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, this leadership transition marks an important step as the company sharpens its focus in India’s rapidly evolving insurance market.
A seasoned industry leader, Parthanil has played a key role in shaping the company’s growth and strengthening its market position. In his new role, he will steer the company’s strategy with a clear focus on customer experience, innovation, and expanding insurance access across India’s under-insured population.
With over 30 years of experience across insurance, financial services, and lending, Parthanil has held several leadership roles within HDFC ERGO. Most recently, as Executive Director and Whole-Time Director, he managed the overall P&L and led critical functions including Retail, Corporate, Government & Digital Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, Product Development, IT, Operations, Marketing, and Fraud Management.
Earlier, as Director and Chief Business Officer, Parthanil oversaw key verticals such as Retail & Crop Insurance, Underwriting, Claims, and Digital & Technology, contributing significantly to business growth and operational efficiency. As President – Motor Business, he led the motor insurance portfolio across distribution, underwriting, and claims, strengthening the company’s position in a highly competitive segment. During his tenure as Group Head – Retail Business, he also expanded customer reach and improved channel effectiveness.
Before joining HDFC ERGO, Parthanil held leadership roles at L&T General Insurance, where he served as National Head – Retail Sales and Business Head – North, driving distribution expansion and profitable growth. His earlier experience includes senior roles at FamilyCredit Limited, ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services Limited, and Nicco UCO Financial Services Limited, building strong expertise in strategy, distribution, product development, and operations.
He began his career with NIIT Limited, gaining early experience in sales and business development.
Across his career, Parthanil has demonstrated strong capabilities in scaling businesses, driving profitability, building customer-focused strategies, and leading large, complex organizations.
