In a landmark development for India’s digital infrastructure, Google is set to enter the Vizag market with a large-scale data centre and AI innovation hub. The foundation ceremony is scheduled for April 28, marking one of the biggest investment projects in the history of Andhra Pradesh.
The project is expected to bring an investment of $15 billion, positioning Vizag as a growing financial and technology hub in the state. N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend the groundbreaking ceremony and has expressed strong interest in the project’s potential to transform the region’s economic landscape.
In a notable policy move, the state government has allowed the company to procure its own power supply for the data centre. This marks the first time in India that a state has permitted a private company such flexibility, reflecting a forward-looking approach to attracting large-scale investments.
Preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony are already underway and are expected to be conducted on a large scale. The project involves significant financial resources and is likely to strengthen the overall economic outlook of Andhra Pradesh.
The initiative has been driven by sustained efforts from Nara Lokesh, who played a key role in advancing the project from planning to execution.
The entry of Google, along with the support and infrastructure provided by the state government, is expected to attract more global companies to consider Andhra Pradesh as a strategic destination for investment.
