Anthropic and medical knowledge platform OpenEvidence have partnered to expand access to AI-powered clinical decision support for physicians across around 100 countries, with a focus on low- and middle-income regions.
As part of the initiative, healthcare providers will receive free access to a specialised version of OpenEvidence. The platform uses peer-reviewed medical research and treatment guidelines to help doctors access relevant clinical information.
The rollout will include countries such as Uganda, Angola, Sudan, Haiti and Mongolia, where access to medical literature and specialist expertise can be limited.
Anthropic will provide the AI technology and backend infrastructure, while OpenEvidence will adapt the platform to local healthcare conditions and available resources.
The companies said the initiative is designed to support evidence-based clinical decision-making while accounting for differences across regions, including disease patterns, diagnostic capabilities and available treatment options.
The partnership reflects the growing use of generative AI in healthcare, particularly as a way to help address gaps in access to medical knowledge and specialist expertise.
By combining AI infrastructure with medical research and treatment guidelines, the collaboration aims to support physicians working in resource-constrained healthcare environments.
