Amazon Fire TV Stick HD brings faster performance and cloud gaming support to Indian users

Strengthening its streaming ecosystem in India, Amazon has introduced the Fire TV Stick HD as its latest budget-friendly device, bringing upgraded performance, improved connectivity, and gaming support to users.

The new Fire TV Stick HD was launched on Tuesday and is positioned as a faster successor to the previous HD model, with Amazon claiming over 30 percent performance improvement. It supports HDR10+, Wi-Fi 6, and Xbox cloud gaming, along with a redesigned Fire TV interface that offers simpler navigation and a cleaner layout. The device supports up to 1080p streaming at 60fps with Dolby-encoded audio.

Priced at Rs. 4,999, the Fire TV Stick HD is currently available in India via Amazon.in, Blinkit, Flipkart, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto, with wider retail availability expected soon.

The device supports full-HD playback at 1080p 60fps and is compatible with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, AV1, VP9, H.265, and H.264 formats. It runs on a quad-core 1.7GHz processor and includes 8GB of internal storage.

On the connectivity side, the Fire TV Stick HD features dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, allowing users to connect wireless accessories such as headphones, speakers, and gaming controllers.

Amazon has also introduced a redesigned Fire TV interface with a tile-based, horizontal scrolling layout for apps, movies, and shows. The company says the update is designed to reduce browsing time and improve content discovery.

The device comes bundled with an Alexa Voice Remote that supports voice commands for launching apps, controlling playback, checking weather updates, setting reminders, and managing compatible smart home devices, including lights, fans, air conditioners, and security cameras.

A key addition is Xbox cloud gaming support. Users can connect a compatible Bluetooth controller and access Xbox games through the Xbox app without a console. However, an active Xbox Game Pass subscription is required to use the service.
