Google has announced a new set of Spring 2026 updates for its Home app, bringing several improvements across Nest Cam, automation features, and the Gemini for Home voice assistant. The latest update introduces Gemini 3.1, aimed at improving intelligence and voice interaction capabilities within smart homes.
With Gemini 3.1, the voice assistant can better understand and execute complex, multi-step voice commands using advanced reasoning capabilities. The upgraded model is already available as the “Pro” model in the Gemini app and also powers Gemini Live.
The enhancement allows users to complete multiple actions through a single command instead of making separate requests. For instance, users can now add new items and update existing lists within the same interaction.
Google also stated that Gemini for Home can now manage more advanced requests from the beginning. This includes controlling smart home devices, setting alarms, creating reminders, and handling calendar-related tasks more efficiently.
The Gemini 3.1 upgrade has now been fully rolled out to all early access users.
In addition, Google previewed a new feature called “Ask Home,” which will soon be available on home.google.com. The feature will allow users to search camera history, check connected devices, and create automations using conversational commands. It will join existing functionalities such as viewing camera feeds, managing devices, and controlling automations directly from the platform.
