In a major push for sustainable mobility, Switch Mobility has delivered 100 electric buses to Mauritius, marking India’s largest export of such vehicles.
The final batch of 90 buses was handed over by S Jaishankar to Navinchandra Ramgoolam during an official engagement involving representatives from both countries.
The buses were supplied through an open tender by Convergence Energy Services Limited and are being operated by the National Transport Corporation. The delivery was made under a government-to-government arrangement, with India providing the buses as a donation.
The vehicles are Switch EiV12 models, designed to seat up to 45 passengers. They are equipped with telematics systems for real-time monitoring and fleet management. The buses use lithium iron phosphate batteries mounted on the floor for improved stability and feature a dual-gun charging interface for faster charging and efficient depot operations.
This deployment supports Mauritius’ efforts to reduce emissions and modernise public transport systems. It also aligns with Switch Mobility’s global expansion strategy.
The company has deployed over 2,400 electric buses globally and more than 2,500 across India. It has also introduced intercity electric buses for state transport undertakings such as UPSRTC.
