In his new role, Suresh will lead Visa’s India strategy, focusing on expanding partnerships and accelerating growth across digital payments, financial inclusion, and innovation-led initiatives in line with the country’s evolving fintech landscape.
Suresh brings over 30 years of experience across banking, fintech, and digital payments. He has a strong track record of building scalable financial platforms and driving innovation at a national level.
Most recently, he served as Managing Director & CEO at Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. (formerly NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd.), where he led large-scale digital public infrastructure initiatives and contributed to strengthening India’s digital ecosystem.
Earlier, as Founder CEO of India Post Payments Bank, he played a transformative role in building one of the country’s largest financial inclusion platforms. Under his leadership, IPPB developed a pan-India interoperable banking infrastructure using over 155,000 post offices and 300,000+ postal employees, enabling accessible and affordable banking services for millions.
He also served as Managing Director & CEO at Vodafone M-Pesa Limited, where he helped shape India’s mobile payments ecosystem and built a $1 billion business, while contributing to regulatory frameworks for payments banks.
Suresh was part of the founding team at YES Bank, where he played a key role in building transaction banking, digital payments, and alternate channel strategies. He also held senior roles at Citigroup, leading global transaction services across regions including Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Throughout his career, Suresh has been closely involved in policy advocacy, digital innovation, and financial inclusion, working with regulators, governments, and global institutions to shape the future of payments and banking.
He holds an MBA in Marketing & Finance from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi.
