Telangana has emerged as India’s top-performing state in tackling cybercrime following a nationwide PRAGATI review conducted by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on August 6.
The state secured the overall 1st rank across 9 key parameters covering cybercrime prevention, digital platforms, law enforcement capacity and citizen awareness. The assessment included the establishment of the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C), implementation of e-Zero FIR, the Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM), the Money Restoration Module (MRM) for recovering cyber fraud losses, and the use of the Sahyog Portal for unlawful content takedowns.
Other parameters included the use of the Samanvaya Portal, monitoring of cybercrime hotspots, capacity building for law enforcement officers, and Information, Education and Communication initiatives.
The PRAGATI review examined how states and union territories are addressing cybercrime and assessed their use of digital platforms developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Telangana was recognised for establishing India’s 1st S4C, implementing e-Zero FIR and effectively using major I4C platforms, including the Samanvaya Portal, Sahyog Portal, GRM Portal and Money Restoration Module.
As part of its citizen-focused efforts, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has introduced a dedicated helpline, 8712665600, to provide telephone support for grievances related to the GRM and MRM.
TGCSB has also published instructional videos on its official social media platforms to help citizens understand how the GRM and MRM systems work and how to use them.
The Bureau has urged citizens to make active use of digital platforms developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, including the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, GRM and MRM, for timely reporting, grievance resolution and recovery of losses from cyber fraud.
