In a major step towards digital learning, the School Education department has partnered with Amazon Future Engineer and Pi Jam Foundation to introduce AI literacy for nearly 2 million students in government schools across Telangana.
As part of the initiative, 2,000 laptops have been distributed across Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and CURE schools to improve digital access and classroom learning. The programme introduces AI education for students from Classes 5 to 9 through a structured digital textbook developed by SCERT Telangana, with support from Pi Jam Foundation.
To encourage practical learning, a dedicated platform – telangana.codemitra.org – has been launched. It will allow students to practice and apply concepts covered in the Digital Learning curriculum.
The initiative aims to strengthen digital skills and expand access to emerging technologies among students in government schools.
The launch event was attended by Yogita Rana, Secretary of the Education Department, E. Naveen Nicolas, Director of School Education, BV Narasamma, Joint Director of Samagra Shiksha, along with representatives from Amazon.
