Subhabrata Ghosh takes charge as COO at Tata AutoComp Gotion to drive battery business growth

The move comes as the company scales its presence in the fast-growing lithium battery and green mobility space.

In his new role, Subhabrata is overseeing a $0.5 billion lithium battery business, with responsibilities across P&L management, operations, and business development. He is also leading cross-functional teams in R&D to support new product launches, while driving purchasing and operational strategies to improve efficiency and profitability.

Prior to this, Subhabrata served at Geon, most recently as Chief Operating Officer after holding the role of President. He led P&L, plant operations, capex, purchase, finance, and HR. His work covered profit center management, EBITDA, cost control, R&D, new product introduction, greenfield projects, and customer development across 2W, 3W, and 4W segments, along with business development in BESS for grid, C&I, and home inverter segments. He also handled lithium-ion battery manufacturing, EV production, lean tools, SAP, TPM, union management, supplier negotiations, technology transfer, and firmware development.

Earlier, as Plant Business Head at Meritor, he led plant operations, balance sheet management, P&L, cost control, R&D, NPI, capex, and strategic planning. He also managed sales budgeting, OEM acquisition, international business development, and manufacturing operations across machining, sheet metal, brake, and axle systems.

Subhabrata also served as Project Head – Electric Vehicle Business at Singapore Electric Vehicles, where he led profit center operations, plant management, business expansion, and OEM acquisition. His role covered EV manufacturing, lean systems, quality, safety, Industry 4.0, and end-to-end operations.

Subhabrata spent over 8 years at Tata Motors as Operation Head (Vehicle Assembly), building strong expertise in manufacturing systems, quality, safety, and plant operations. He began his career at Steel Strips Wheels Limited, working on setting up advanced manufacturing facilities for multiple vehicle segments.

He holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology and is pursuing a CXO Certification in Business Administration and Management with AI from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.

With deep experience across EV manufacturing, lithium-ion battery systems, operations, and strategic growth, Subhabrata is well positioned to lead the company’s next phase in the evolving green mobility ecosystem.
