Bharti AXA Life Insurance has elevated Smit Kamdar to Senior Vice President and Channel Head – Direct Distribution, marking another milestone in his more than 6-year journey with the company.
In his expanded role, he will lead the Direct Distribution business, focusing on channel growth, customer acquisition, digital-first distribution strategies, business performance, and customer experience across India.
Before this elevation, Smit served as Channel Head – Direct Distribution, where he led teams across more than 100 cities, driving customer reach, improving customer experience, strengthening product-market fit, and accelerating channel growth.
Earlier, he held several leadership roles within Bharti AXA Life Insurance, including Vice President – Head Digital Sales, Service to Sales and Zonal Head – South and West, Deputy Vice President – Head Digital Sales and Service to Sales, Deputy Vice President – Head Revenue Assurance, Third-Party Distribution, and Associate Vice President – PMO, CEO’s Office.
During his tenure, he led digital sales initiatives, built direct-to-company capabilities, launched customer lifecycle and propensity programmes, managed customer cohorts worth approximately ₹1,000 crore covering nearly 1 lakh customers, and delivered strategic projects focused on growth, distribution, customer retention, and profitability.
Prior to joining Bharti AXA Life Insurance, Smit spent more than 3 years at Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, where he held leadership roles in strategy and direct marketing, driving business planning, profitability, customer retention, go-to-market strategy, and organic growth initiatives.
Earlier in his career, he worked with Marsh & McLennan Companies as Assistant Manager – Employee Health and Benefits Consulting Practice, contributing to business planning, employee benefits strategy, and the development of digital platforms serving more than 250 corporate clients.
With extensive experience in direct distribution, digital sales, insurance strategy, channel management, customer acquisition, business analytics, and organizational transformation, Smit brings strong strategic and operational leadership to his expanded role.
