Samsung has unveiled its new Flex Titanium display technology ahead of the expected launch of its next-generation foldable smartphones. The company says the new display architecture is designed to reduce the visible crease on foldable screens while improving durability and delivering a more immersive viewing experience.

The South Korean technology company is expected to introduce the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event.

According to Samsung, the upcoming foldable devices will feature the new Flex Titanium display technology, which is engineered to minimise the crease commonly seen on foldable displays. The company also claims the technology enhances screen durability while maintaining a thin and lightweight design.

The Flex Titanium display uses a thin titanium plate and a titanium-alloy film positioned beneath the OLED panel, along with ultra-thin glass and a protective coating. Samsung said the titanium-alloy film provides internal support for the display and offers 20 times greater mechanical stiffness than conventional polymer films.

The company also uses a precision rolling process that reduces the material’s thickness to approximately one-third the thickness of an average human hair.

Samsung said the titanium plate helps stabilise the display when unfolded while maintaining flexibility through repeated folding. The company has also incorporated hole processing technology, which creates a stronger bond between the display module and adhesive by removing air gaps.

In addition, Samsung said the new high-resolution display architecture delivers more vivid image quality while improving overall power efficiency.

The Flex Titanium technology is expected to make its debut with Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone lineup at the next Galaxy Unpacked event.
