Samsung could be preparing a major change for its next premium smartphone lineup. The Galaxy S27 series is expected to launch early next year, and a new report suggests the Galaxy S27 Ultra may use Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2700 chipset in at least 1 market.
The Galaxy S27 lineup is expected to include the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus and Galaxy S27 Ultra. A new Pro model is also reportedly being considered.
Galaxy S27 Ultra tipped to use Exynos 2700
According to a report from a South Korean publication, Samsung is preparing a Galaxy S27 Ultra variant powered by the upcoming Exynos 2700. This would differ from earlier reports that suggested the Ultra model would use only a Snapdragon processor.
If the latest claim is accurate, the Galaxy S27 Ultra would be the first Ultra-series Galaxy S smartphone to feature an Exynos SoC since the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung offered Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the Galaxy S22 Ultra in different markets before switching to Snapdragon-only chipsets for later Ultra models.
The Exynos 2700 could also be a key reason behind Samsung’s reported plans. Recent leaks suggest the new chipset may deliver major improvements in CPU, GPU and AI performance compared with previous generations.
An earlier leak claimed that the Exynos 2700 could feature a prime CPU core with a clock speed of up to 5.0GHz. Leaked benchmark results have also suggested that the chipset could compete more closely with Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processors.
Galaxy S27 series expected changes
Samsung is reportedly planning several changes across the Galaxy S27 series. Along with the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus and Galaxy S27 Ultra, the company could introduce a Galaxy S27 Pro model.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is also tipped to receive a redesigned rear camera setup. Leaked details suggest the camera bump could follow a design language similar to recent iPhone Pro models.
