Reinforcing India’s push for deeper global defence partnerships, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has invited German defence companies to collaborate on co-production and co-development in advanced technologies, including radar systems, sensors, AI-enabled UAVs, sonobuoys, and high-power low-frequency underwater transmitters.

Speaking at the Defence Investor Summit in Munich, he highlighted that India is looking to build long-term strategic partnerships rooted in trust, reliability, and shared interests. He noted that such collaborations have become essential amid shifting geopolitical dynamics, supply chain disruptions, and rapid technological change.

Rajnath Singh said Indian firms are actively seeking engagement with German counterparts to jointly develop and manufacture niche defence technologies. He emphasised that India offers a large and growing market, a skilled workforce, and a stable industrial ecosystem supported by rule of law and policy predictability.

He described this as a long-term strategic opportunity rather than a short-term business engagement. He also clarified that India’s self-reliance push is not inward-focused. Instead, it is aimed at enabling the country to design, develop, and produce advanced systems alongside trusted global partners.

Referring to broader global frameworks such as ReArm Europe and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, he said there is significant untapped potential for collaboration between India and international defence industries.

He further stated that India is transitioning from being primarily a buyer of defence equipment to becoming a partner in design, development, and production. According to him, this shift opens new opportunities for global defence companies.

He added that in today’s interconnected world, partnerships are no longer optional but necessary for sustained progress in defence innovation and capability building.

The remarks underline India’s growing emphasis on joint development models in defence manufacturing and its efforts to position itself as a key partner in global defence supply chains.
