With a focus on accelerating governance and improving delivery, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers in New Delhi, urging ministers to complete pending work at the earliest and strengthen administrative efficiency.
The meeting, held at Seva Teerth, lasted approximately 4.5 hours and served as an important review of the government’s performance and priorities.
Addressing the ministers, the Prime Minister stressed the need for quicker decision-making, faster movement of files, and greater productivity within ministries. He also called for simpler governance processes and a stronger emphasis on reforms to improve outcomes.
Reaffirming the government’s long-term vision, Modi stated that “Viksit Bharat 2047” is not just a slogan but a commitment guiding policy and governance efforts. Ministries that ranked lower in performance assessments were advised to take corrective steps and improve their functioning.
The Council of Ministers also congratulated the Prime Minister on the successful completion of his 5-nation visit. The External Affairs Minister briefed the gathering on the significance and outcomes of the tour.
During the meeting, ministers were encouraged to engage more actively with citizens and communicate the government’s achievements over the past 12 years.
The discussions gained added importance amid growing global economic concerns linked to the escalating conflict in West Asia.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi returned to New Delhi after concluding visits to the UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. The tour resulted in multiple agreements covering energy cooperation, defence, critical minerals, and strategic partnerships.
In the UAE, India signed several key agreements related to strategic petroleum reserves, long-term LPG supply, defence, and shipping, while Abu Dhabi committed investments worth $5 billion in India.
