India’s space technology sector has recorded a major funding milestone, with Google-backed startup Pixxel raising $100 million in its latest funding round.
The Series C round was led by Singapore state investor Temasek and British space technology venture firm Seraphim. It marks the largest single funding round raised by an Indian space technology company.
Existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures also participated, along with new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment. The latest funding takes Pixxel’s total capital raised to $195 million.
Founded by Awais Ahmed, Pixxel is among the space startups that emerged after the Indian government opened the sector to private players. The company initially focused on hyperspectral satellites designed to capture information about the Earth’s surface that conventional imagery may not reveal.
Pixxel has since expanded into Earth intelligence software through Aurora and satellite systems designed for commercial and sovereign space missions.
Together, these technologies form the foundation of Pixxel’s planetary infrastructure vision. The company aims to connect sensors, software and space systems to help governments, industries and institutions turn Earth observation data into actionable intelligence.
The fresh funding will support the expansion of Pixxel’s sensing capabilities through its Honeybee satellite constellation and high-resolution optical imaging satellites.
The company will also use the capital to further develop Aurora as a platform that brings together data from these systems and converts it into decision-ready insights.
