Jio sets sights on global markets with India-built technology

After 10 years of commercial operations, Reliance Jio is preparing to take its India-built technology beyond the domestic market, with plans spanning connectivity, digital products, enterprise solutions and artificial intelligence (AI).

In a letter to employees dated September 5, the chairman of Reliance Jio and managing director of Jio Platforms said the company has moved beyond its original telecom business. He said Jio is now building technology in India for use in global markets.

The company’s next phase will focus on making technology more accessible at scale while strengthening India’s position as a technology creator, he said.

Looking back at Jio’s journey, he said the company was founded with the goal of making high-quality digital connectivity affordable and accessible to Indians.

Over the past decade, Jio’s growth has transformed India’s digital connectivity landscape, he said.

The company is now shifting its focus from primarily building digital infrastructure for India to developing and exporting technology across multiple areas, including connectivity, digital products, enterprise solutions and AI.
