In a strategic step toward scaling artificial intelligence, Piraeus Bank has partnered with Accenture to launch a dedicated AI hub aimed at transforming its operations.
The new hub will act as a central platform to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI capabilities across the bank’s entire value chain. The initiative is supported by Anthropic and will focus on improving areas such as compliance, operations, customer experience, and risk management.
Alongside technology deployment, the hub will also prioritise talent development. The bank plans to attract and upskill specialised professionals through targeted hiring and structured learning programmes. These training initiatives will be delivered using Accenture’s AI-focused learning platforms.
This collaboration builds on the long-standing relationship between the two organisations, which began in 2021 when Piraeus Bank adopted a cloud-first operating model. The new AI hub will also leverage Accenture’s Data and AI Centre of Excellence in Athens to accelerate the bank’s broader digital transformation journey.
Harry Margaritis, Group Chief Operating Officer at Piraeus Bank, described the initiative as a “strategic inflection point” for the organisation. “We are advancing from individual AI deployments to a unified, enterprise-level capability that is deeply embedded in how the bank operates,” he said.
He also highlighted the focus on responsible AI adoption. “Through our collaboration with Accenture and the integration of Anthropic’s technology, including its flagship model Claude, we aim to scale advanced AI responsibly, anchored in strong governance, transparency and human control,” Margaritis added.
Separately, the bank continues to expand its digital footprint. It recently introduced Snappi, Greece’s first European Central Bank-licensed neobank, developed in partnership with Natech and Neptune International, strengthening its position in digital banking innovation.
With this move, Piraeus Bank is positioning AI at the core of its operations while building capabilities for long-term growth and efficiency.
