OpenAI is expanding its AI offerings for the finance sector with a new version of ChatGPT designed for investment bankers, equity researchers and other financial professionals.
Called ChatGPT for Financial Services, the product combines OpenAI’s latest AI model with financial data from providers including LSEG, PitchBook and Daloopa. Morgan Stanley and Evercore worked with OpenAI as design partners to help shape the product.
The launch is part of a wider push by AI companies to serve regulated industries where data governance and security are key concerns. The product builds on ChatGPT Enterprise’s security controls, including role-based access and encryption. Compliance teams can also export workspace logs into audit workflows.
The service is powered by GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI’s newest model. The company said the model is designed to improve retrieval across financial data tools, financial reasoning and the accuracy of generated content.
Users can research information across multiple sources, build financial models and prepare client materials such as pitchbooks using their firms’ own templates.
OpenAI said it plans to increase the amount of financial data available through the product. It also plans to further train its models to identify, interpret and use this information for tasks traditionally handled by experienced analysts.
The product includes datasets from Daloopa, LSEG News, PitchBook, Crunchbase, Quartr and other providers. The data covers earnings transcripts, financial statements and company fundamentals. OpenAI said the information is indexed on its own infrastructure to improve retrieval and citation.
LSEG is the sole distributor of news agency reports, financial data and real-time alerts to financial professionals globally.
Firms with existing data subscriptions can connect them through integrations with FactSet, S&P Global, Preqin and Datasite, OpenAI said.
The company also plans to expand ChatGPT for Financial Services beyond investment banking and equity research to cover the wider financial services industry.
