Kinshuk Gupta has moved from Tata Consultancy Services to Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, joining as Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications after around 11 months as chief communications officer at TCS.
The appointment brings Kinshuk back to the telecom sector, where he has previously spent significant time building his corporate communications experience.
Kinshuk began his career with communications firms including Vaishnavi Corporate Communications and IPAN Hill & Knowlton. He later worked with Hanmer MSL and Edelman India, managing accounts including British Airways, Audi and General Motors.
His most significant telecom experience came at airtel, where he spent around 7 years across 2 stints. He rose from head of corporate communications to SVP & Head of Corporate Communications.
Between his 2 stints at airtel, Kinshuk spent around 6 years at GSK Consumer Healthcare. He first served as head of communications and CSR for India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka before becoming head of corporate affairs for the Indian subcontinent.
His experience spans telecom, healthcare and IT services, giving him exposure to sectors with complex regulatory and corporate communication requirements. His earlier work included areas such as net neutrality and spectrum pricing at airtel, as well as listed-company disclosures at GSK and TCS.
His move to Jio also brings experience from both consumer-facing telecom and large corporate communications. Kinshuk previously played a role in building airtel’s corporate communications function and most recently led communications at TCS.
For TCS, his departure comes less than 1 year after taking charge as chief communications officer. However, leadership movement is not uncommon in India’s corporate communications sector.
The appointment comes as competition in India’s telecom market continues around tariffs, 5G rollout and average revenue per user. Kinshuk’s return to telecom places his communications experience at the centre of a sector where corporate and consumer narratives remain increasingly important.
