Fresh leaks have revealed new details about the upcoming OnePlus 16, suggesting the flagship smartphone could debut in October with upgraded hardware while largely retaining the design of its predecessor. Although OnePlus has not officially confirmed the device, recent reports point to an updated launch timeline and several expected specifications.
According to information shared by a well-known tipster, the OnePlus 16 is expected to continue the design language of the OnePlus 15 instead of introducing a major visual redesign. The smartphone is likely to retain the compact square-shaped rear camera module introduced with the previous model.
Earlier reports suggest the handset is being tested with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera featuring 3x optical zoom. It is also expected to include a dedicated AI button.
The OnePlus 16 is tipped to feature a 6.78-inch flat display and could be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor. The same chipset is also expected to power several next-generation Android flagship smartphones, including the iQOO 16.
Battery life could be one of the biggest highlights of the device. The smartphone is expected to pack a massive 9,000mAh battery, supporting previous leaks about its high-capacity power unit.
The latest leak suggests that the OnePlus 16 is currently scheduled to launch in October, replacing earlier rumours that pointed to a September debut. The same source also indicated that the iQOO 16 could follow a similar October launch timeline.
While the smartphone is expected to launch in China in October, a recent report has suggested that the OnePlus 16 may not be introduced in the Indian market.
