A sustained crackdown on cybercrime has significantly reduced cybercrime hotspots in Haryana’s Nuh district, with police reporting a 52.9% decline over the past 4 months. Officials credited the improvement to a dedicated cybercrime task force that has been using technology-driven investigations and intelligence-based enforcement.

According to police, cybercrime hotspots identified on the Centre’s Pratibimb application dropped from 1,783 in March to 1,398 in April, 1,051 in May, and further declined to 839 as of Saturday. The figures represent locations flagged for suspected cybercrime activity and not the number of suspects, devices or mobile numbers.

Officials said the task force continuously monitors alerts generated through the Pratibimb application. When cyber fraud complaints are registered on the national cybercrime portal or the 1930 helpline, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre analyses the information and shares technical inputs, including suspected locations and contact details, with district police for verification and action.

Police said each alert is followed by technical analysis, human intelligence and field verification before raids are conducted. Cases are registered for cheating and forgery, while investigations are completed quickly to ensure chargesheets are filed and accused do not easily secure bail.

The special task force was formed earlier this year under the direction of Superintendent of Police Arpit Jain after he assumed charge of the district.

Police data also showed a sharp rise in enforcement between April and June compared to January and March. FIR registrations in cybercrime cases increased by 82.69%, arrests rose by 56.41%, SIM card seizures increased by 137.8%, and mobile device confiscations went up by 139.68%.

Officials said the intelligence-led and technology-enabled approach has helped disrupt organised cybercrime networks. They added that the crackdown will continue until Nuh is no longer identified as a cybercrime hotspot by law enforcement agencies across the country.
