In a major relief for cybercrime victims, police in Andhra Pradesh have refunded more than ₹6 crore to 310 people through a special cybercrime refund initiative. The programme was organised to help victims recover money lost in online fraud cases and strengthen public confidence in the cybercrime response system.
The refund drive was held after investigators successfully tracked and froze funds linked to various online fraud cases. Officials said a total of more than ₹6 crore was returned to 310 victims following legal procedures and coordination with financial institutions.
The initiative highlights the growing focus on improving cybercrime investigations and ensuring victims receive financial relief as quickly as possible. Authorities said timely reporting of cyber fraud plays a key role in increasing the chances of recovering stolen money.
Police also urged citizens to remain cautious while making online transactions and avoid sharing personal or banking information with unknown individuals. People were advised to immediately report suspicious calls, messages or financial fraud through the national cybercrime helpline and official reporting portal to improve the chances of fund recovery.
Officials reiterated that awareness, quick reporting and coordinated action between law enforcement agencies and banks remain critical in tackling the increasing number of cyb er fraud cases.
The special refund programme reflects the government’s continued efforts to strengthen cyber policing while providing financial relief to victims affected by digital scams.
