Nokia has appointed Ravi Mani as Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), bringing an experienced cybersecurity leader into a role focused on strengthening the company’s information security and risk management capabilities.

Mani brings extensive experience in cybersecurity, data privacy, IT risk, regulatory compliance and technology leadership. Before joining Nokia, he spent more than 6 years at Quest Diagnostics, where he served as Senior Vice President and Global CISO.

At Quest Diagnostics, Mani led the development of cybersecurity strategy and managed security risks across business operations. His responsibilities covered threat intelligence, security technologies, regulatory compliance and organisational security capabilities. He also provided strategic guidance to the company’s leadership and board.

Joining Quest Diagnostics shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mani led cybersecurity efforts through a period of significant operational and technological change. He also worked on preparing the organisation for emerging opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence.

Previously, Mani served as Global CISO and Distinguished Engineer for IBM’s Cloud and Watson Platform business. At IBM, he led the cloud security and privacy organisation, overseeing cloud security strategy, risk management and operational models. He also supported secure public-cloud transformation initiatives for large enterprises across financial services, healthcare and the public sector.

Earlier in his career, Mani held technology and leadership positions, including a Senior Vice President role in the Organisational Excellence Group at iGATE Corporation. His professional work spans cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning and digital transformation. According to Fortinet’s profile, he holds 10 US patents and has published work across several technology disciplines.

At Nokia, Mani will take on the security leadership role as the company operates across mobile networks, network infrastructure, cloud and other critical technologies.

Reflecting on his appointment, Mani said he was “Excited and grateful” to join Nokia as Global CISO. He described the move as a new chapter focused on learning, contributing, building relationships and making an impact.

Looking back at his previous role, he described his more than 6 years at Quest Diagnostics as “deeply fulfilling” personally and professionally. He also highlighted the experience of leading cybersecurity through the challenges of the pandemic and helping the organisation navigate the evolving opportunities and risks associated with AI.

Mani’s appointment brings together his experience in enterprise and cloud security, risk management and emerging technologies as Nokia continues to strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities.
