Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co., in Mumbai on September 21 during the bank’s India Investor Conference, according to the Finance Ministry.
Dimon is in India for JPMorgan’s 11th annual India Conference, which began on September 21 and runs through September 22. The event has brought together global investors, corporate executives and policymakers, with Dimon also scheduled to meet executives from leading Indian business groups.
JPMorgan has been expanding its presence in India across areas including investment banking, technology, payments and financial services. The bank was also the leading institution in India’s equity offerings in 2025.
Rahul Badhwar, senior country officer for JPMorgan in India, said, “We see significant opportunities across cross-border M&A, innovation economy, manufacturing, healthcare, consumer, financial services and technology.”
He added, “As Indian companies continue to expand globally and multinational companies deepen their presence in India, demand for strategic advice, financing and capital markets expertise is only increasing.”
Other global banks, including Goldman Sachs and HSBC Holdings, have also expanded their presence in India to pursue opportunities in areas such as mergers and acquisitions.
Sitharaman has also been engaging with global investors on India’s investment opportunities. During her visit to Chicago in August, she urged companies to view India not only as a market but also as a platform to build manufacturing, technology and innovation capabilities for global markets.
The meeting comes as JPMorgan continues to deepen its engagement with India’s financial and corporate sectors, while Indian companies expand their global operations.
