MakeMyTrip’s Myra 2.0 drives multilingual AI travel bookings beyond metro cities

Travel platform MakeMyTrip has introduced Myra 2.0, an upgraded AI-powered travel assistant designed to simplify trip planning and booking through voice conversations in multiple Indian languages.

The new version supports voice commands in 8 languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and English, allowing users to search, plan and complete travel bookings through a conversational interface.

MakeMyTrip said users can now manage the entire travel journey, from discovering destinations to making payments, within a single chat-based experience. The upgraded assistant also allows users to upload documents directly into the conversation.

The platform has integrated passport OCR technology to automatically capture and fill traveller details, reducing the need for manual data entry during bookings. The company added that ticket uploads and hotel voucher support are currently under development.

According to MakeMyTrip, Myra 2.0 is witnessing strong adoption in Tier-2 and smaller cities, which account for more than 45% of overall usage. The company also noted that voice interactions outside metro cities are nearly 50% higher compared to urban regions.

The AI assistant has crossed 3 million conversations per quarter, highlighting growing demand for voice-based travel services in India.

MakeMyTrip revealed that around 70% of all voice queries on Myra are made in Hinglish, a mix of Hindi and English, showing strong local language engagement among users.

The company also reported that travellers using Myra complete bookings at rates nearly 10% higher than users following the standard app booking process, suggesting that conversational AI is helping simplify travel planning for customers.

The launch reflects the growing use of AI-driven voice technology in India’s digital travel sector, especially among users looking for regional language support and easier booking experiences.
