Jindal Steel Ltd. has appointed Sandeep Modi as President Finance & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), strengthening its executive leadership team with a seasoned finance leader who brings more than 20 years of experience across finance, strategy, treasury, taxation, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, corporate governance, legal, and risk management.

In his new role, Sandeep will lead the company’s financial strategy, capital allocation, governance, and business performance initiatives, supporting Jindal Steel’s long-term growth, operational excellence, and value creation.

Before joining Jindal Steel Ltd., Sandeep served as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President at Hindustan Zinc. He led a team of more than 150 professionals across finance, financial planning and analysis, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, taxation, treasury, investor relations, legal, information technology, company secretarial, financial reporting, audits, and shared services. As a member of the company’s Executive Committee, he worked closely with the CEO and senior leadership to drive business growth, commercial performance, enterprise risk management, governance, and strategic decision-making. Earlier, he also served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer, playing a key role in strengthening financial planning, business performance, and organisational transformation.

Alongside his leadership role at Hindustan Zinc, Sandeep served as Nominee Director on the boards of Serentica Renewables India 4 Private Limited and Serentica Renewables India 5 Private Limited, providing strategic oversight for renewable energy investments and corporate governance.

Earlier, he was Chief Financial Officer at Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), where he led finance, treasury, taxation, legal, regulatory affairs, company secretarial functions, and board governance. He also served as Chief Financial Officer at Talwandi Sabo Power Limited, where he successfully led one of the power sector’s largest refinancing transactions during the COVID-19 period while overseeing finance, treasury, taxation, legal, IT, and regulatory functions. Before that, he was AVP & Deputy Chief Financial Officer at BALCO, managing business controllership, treasury, financial reporting, taxation, commercial negotiations, and corporate governance.

Earlier in his career, Sandeep spent nearly 12 years with Vedanta Resources Limited, progressing from Associate Manager to AVP – Management Assurance. During this period, he led internal audit, enterprise risk management, forensic investigations, governance frameworks, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal financial controls, cyber risk, business reviews, and strategic assurance programmes across the company’s global metals and mining operations. He began his career with Hindustan Zinc, working in Project Finance and later as Business Unit Controller, where he gained extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, statutory reporting, project finance, treasury operations, contract management, audits, and business controllership.

With a distinguished career spanning the metals, mining, renewable energy, and power sectors, Sandeep brings deep expertise in financial leadership, strategic execution, capital management, governance, and business transformation. His appointment reflects Jindal Steel Ltd.’s continued focus on strengthening its financial leadership as it expands its integrated steel operations and advances sustainable, technology-driven growth.
