A structural shift is redefining India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs), as they evolve from cost-focused operations to outcome-driven strategic hubs powered by AI and enterprise integration.
India’s GCC sector is projected to reach $105 billion by 2030, employing over 2.8 million professionals. This growth reflects a clear transition, with 92% of GCC leaders moving beyond cost optimisation to drive transformation, innovation and measurable business impact.
With volatility becoming constant and technology cycles accelerating, expectations from GCCs have increased. Businesses now demand agility, foresight and faster decision-making. In response, leading GCCs are integrating deeply with enterprise functions, enabling seamless data flow, extracting insights and supporting confident, real-time decisions.
Agentic AI is playing a key role in this shift. These autonomous digital agents can orchestrate workflows, interpret signals and enable faster, context-aware decisions. When combined with outcome-led models, they position GCCs as central engines of enterprise strategy.
Modern GCCs operate across geographies and functions with fewer barriers. Enterprise-wide access and collaboration systems reduce duplication, simplify processes and enable faster responses. Teams are also evolving, with engineers, analysts and domain experts working in cross-functional groups to solve complex problems.
This model is especially critical in sectors like pharmaceuticals and life sciences, where managing complex data, global launches and regulatory requirements demands strong coordination. GCCs in these industries are already leveraging AI and advanced analytics to reduce drug development timelines from 10–15 years to 9–13 years.
Unlike traditional automation, which handles predefined tasks, agentic AI enables dynamic decision-making. It monitors data in real time, adapts to changing conditions and acts before risks escalate or opportunities are missed. Adoption is growing rapidly, with 58% of GCCs already investing in agentic AI and 29% planning to do so within 1 year.
In high-stakes scenarios like product launches, AI-driven GCCs can analyse sales data, detect behavioural shifts and simulate pricing strategies. Insights are shared across markets in real time, enabling leaders to act within hours and refine strategies quickly.
However, scale requires trust. Strong governance frameworks, including audits and quality checks, are essential to ensure reliable AI-driven outcomes, particularly in regulated sectors.
Ultimately, GCCs that combine human expertise with agentic AI, foster collaboration and align with long-term goals are set to redefine enterprise success.
