Fresh leaked renders have offered another look at the rumoured HMD Slate Tab 5G, suggesting a large display, colourful design and support for accessories. The tablet is reportedly in development and could launch alongside the rumoured Skyline 2 smartphone. However, HMD has not confirmed either device or their launch plans.

HMD Slate Tab 5G design and display details

According to an X post by tipster HMD_MEME’S (@smashx_60), the HMD Slate Tab 5G could arrive as a 2-in-1 Android tablet after around 2 years of development. The latest renders show blue and orange finishes, a large display and a single rear camera. The tablet could feature a 15.6-inch LCD screen, while HMD branding is visible on the rear along with a row of POGO contacts at the bottom.

These contacts could allow users to connect a keyboard or other accessories, giving the tablet a laptop-like 2-in-1 setup. Its design and colour options appear to take some inspiration from Microsoft’s Surface range and the Nokia Lumia 2520.

However, an earlier leak described a smaller 10.6-inch IPS LCD display with a 2000×1200-pixel resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. That version was reportedly powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. It was also said to feature an 8-megapixel front camera and 13-megapixel rear camera.

The earlier details also included 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 9,250mAh battery with 30W wired charging was also reported. These specifications were linked to the 10.6-inch model, while the latest renders point to a 15.6-inch version. It remains unclear whether HMD changed the specifications during development or if the leaks refer to 2 different models.

The Slate Tab 5G could reportedly launch with the Skyline 2. The smartphone is said to feature a 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 108-megapixel main camera, 50-megapixel telephoto and ultrawide cameras, and a 50-megapixel front camera. It could use a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The Skyline 2 could also pack a 5,000mAh battery with 40W wired and 15W wireless charging, IP54 protection and dual speakers. HMD has not confirmed either device.
