Google Translate evolves with AI tools to support real-time and natural communication

Marking a major milestone, Google has introduced a new AI-powered pronunciation practice feature in Google Translate as the platform completes 20 years.

The new tool is designed to help users improve how they speak different languages. It listens to user speech, analyses pronunciation, and provides instant feedback to improve clarity before real conversations. The feature is currently available on Android in select regions, including the US and India, and supports languages such as English, Spanish, and Hindi.

The pronunciation tool works like a built-in language coach. Users can first hear the correct pronunciation of a word or phrase and then try speaking it. The AI identifies mistakes and suggests improvements. This feature builds on existing tools like “Ask” and “Understand,” which offer context-based translations. Google said pronunciation practice was among the most requested features.

The company is also focusing on making conversations more natural and real-time. Features like Live Translate allow users to communicate across languages continuously, even through headphones. These sessions are becoming longer, often exceeding 5 minutes, showing increased reliance on AI for meaningful interactions.

Google highlighted that emojis are emerging as a global communication style. More users are using AI tools to convert text into emojis, making conversations more visual. The company also noted growing use of AI Mode in Search for ASL translations.

Translation remains one of the most popular uses of Circle to Search on Android. Users rely on it to understand topics like K-beauty routines or trending lyrics. Additional features such as camera-based translation through Lens, offline support, and deeper integration with tools like Circle to Search continue to expand how people use Translate daily.

These updates are also helping users follow global events, understand speeches in real time, and better grasp slang and idioms.
