Google has begun bringing Gemini Spark to India for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. Introduced at the company’s developer-focused I/O event earlier this year, the tool is designed as a personal, 24/7 AI agent that can automate tasks and take actions for users. Google said AI Pro subscribers in India will receive access over the next few weeks.
What is Gemini Spark?
Unlike a regular chatbot that waits for prompts, Gemini Spark can monitor situations, complete tasks and act on a user’s behalf. It can continue working in the background even when a laptop is closed or a phone is locked.
On the web, Spark appears as a dedicated tab in the Gemini app. On Android and iOS, it is available alongside Search chats and Daily Brief. It runs on Google’s Gemini 3.6 Flash model, designed for complex agentic workflows.
What can Gemini Spark access?
Depending on permissions, Spark can use connected apps, Skills, Gemini chats, signed-in websites, Personal Intelligence and location data. It connects with Google services and Workspace apps including Gmail, Docs and Sheets.
Because it operates through Google’s cloud infrastructure, users do not need to maintain a separate computing setup. Users can choose whether to activate Spark and which apps it can access. Google says the agent will ask for confirmation before high-stakes actions such as spending money or sending emails.
Spark can also interact with websites through a browser-based environment, although Google has not confirmed whether every such capability will be available immediately in India.
How Gemini Spark works
Spark is built around 3 components: Tasks, Schedules and Skills.
Tasks: These define the result a user wants. They can range from organising emails to planning a business trip across multiple services. The Tasks page shows progress and lets users pin, rename, filter or delete task threads.
Schedules: These control when a task runs. Users can set a specific date and time, recurring intervals or conditions, such as running a workflow every Monday morning or when a certain email arrives.
Skills: These are reusable instructions and context for specific activities. Users can save preferences, instructions or files once and reuse them across Tasks. Multiple Skills can also be combined for complex workflows.
Spark can automatically select an enabled Skill or use one specified by the user.
Together, Tasks, Schedules and Skills allow Gemini Spark to automate continuing workflows across connected services instead of simply responding to individual prompts.
