Google Pixel Watch 5 moves closer to launch with upgraded connectivity features

Fresh regulatory filings suggest Google’s next-generation Pixel Watch 5 is moving closer to launch, with new details pointing to upgraded connectivity features and possible changes to the smartwatch lineup. The latest certifications indicate that all variants may support LTE connectivity, unlike previous generations.

According to newly surfaced US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filings, 4 Google devices with model numbers G25QD, G1XJ6, G0F3Y and GFW3R have received certification. Although the listings do not mention the Pixel Watch 5 by name, the reported specifications suggest they belong to Google’s upcoming smartwatch series.

The certification documents reveal support for LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) connectivity across all 4 models. The filings also list NTN Band 23 and Band 255, indicating compatibility with satellite SOS. Google introduced the emergency satellite feature with the Pixel Watch 4.

The regulatory records also mention multiple metal and non-metal watch straps used during testing, following a similar certification pattern seen with previous Pixel Watch models.

Earlier Pixel Watch generations were available in both Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants in 41mm and 45mm sizes. However, the latest filings suggest that all certified Pixel Watch 5 models include LTE support. This could indicate that Google is dropping the Wi-Fi-only option, although the company has not officially confirmed the complete lineup.

The same 4 model numbers were recently spotted in India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database, suggesting Google is preparing the smartwatch for multiple global markets. Reports have also claimed that the Pixel Watch 5 was recently seen in a real-world sighting ahead of its official launch.

Google has not announced the Pixel Watch 5 or confirmed its specifications. However, industry reports suggest the smartwatch could debut alongside the Pixel 11 series, which is expected to feature Google’s next-generation Tensor G6 chipset.
