Strengthening its push to embed artificial intelligence into everyday browsing, Google has extended its Gemini-powered Chrome experience to more global users.
The latest rollout brings the feature to Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. It will be available on desktop and iOS devices across these regions, although Japan will initially receive support only on desktop.
This expansion is part of Google’s ongoing effort to make Chrome more interactive and AI-driven. Over the past year, the company has introduced new ways for users to engage with Gemini. One such feature is a floating window that allows quick interaction without interrupting browsing activity.
Earlier, Google also launched an AI assistant in the Chrome sidebar. This tool helps users manage multiple tabs by answering queries, summarising information, and combining data from different sources to simplify workflows.
The company highlights “personal intelligence” as a key advantage of this integration. It allows users to connect Chrome with other Google services. Through this, users can schedule meetings via Calendar, explore locations using Maps, and send emails through Gmail, all within the browser.
The sidebar also includes creative tools. Users can edit or transform images found online using features such as Nano Banana 2, adding more functionality to the browsing experience.
Gemini in Chrome was first introduced in the United States in January. It was later expanded to India, Canada, and New Zealand in March, followed by this latest rollout.
However, some advanced capabilities are still limited. Google’s agentic feature, which enables Gemini to perform tasks on behalf of users by controlling the browser, is still under testing. Currently, it is available only to subscribers of the company’s AI Pro and AI Ultra plans in the United States.
The expansion signals Google’s continued focus on integrating AI deeply into its core products, gradually transforming how users interact with the web.
