GE Aerospace has appointed Sumit Shivani as Senior Sales Director, strengthening its commercial leadership as the company expands its presence in India’s growing aerospace and defence sector.
With more than 20 years of experience across defence, aerospace, infrastructure, transportation, engineering and business development, Shivani will lead strategic sales initiatives, strengthen customer relationships and support GE Aerospace’s long-term growth across commercial and defence aviation markets.
Before joining GE Aerospace, Shivani served as Executive Vice President – Sales, Marketing & Project Management at Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd., where he led sales strategy, marketing, business development and project management for the company’s rail transportation business. He focused on expanding market opportunities, strengthening customer engagement and driving business growth while overseeing cross-functional teams delivering complex transportation projects.
Earlier, he was Associate Director at AECOM, managing the end-to-end delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems for Project Seabird, one of India’s largest naval infrastructure projects. He oversaw contractor performance, ensured compliance with quality and safety standards, optimized project execution and successfully delivered mission-critical infrastructure within demanding timelines and budgets.
Prior to that, Shivani spent nearly 12 years with the Indian Navy, where he held several leadership roles, including Fleet Support Unit – Eastern Region, Chief Engineer – Frontline Ship, Director, MEP Systems Training & Compliance, Strategy Lead – Engineering Division, Eastern Region, Deputy Engineer – Frontline Ship, Deputy Head – Diesel & Gas Turbine Overhaul Centre, Naval Dockyard, and Assistant Engineer – Frontline Ship.
During his naval career, he led modernization and maintenance programmes covering propulsion systems, power generation, SCADA, HVAC, electromechanical systems and naval infrastructure. He managed multidisciplinary teams of more than 150 personnel and oversaw capital expenditure programmes valued at approximately US$25 million, delivering improvements in operational efficiency, maintenance strategies, cost optimization and mission readiness.
Throughout his career, Shivani has built expertise in strategic sales, engineering management, project delivery, infrastructure development, operations, customer engagement and business transformation. His appointment reflects GE Aerospace’s focus on strengthening its leadership team and expanding partnerships across India’s commercial aviation, defence and government sectors.
