Triveni Turbine Limited has appointed Shashwat K Mitra as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Designate, strengthening its leadership team as the company continues its global expansion across the industrial energy and turbomachinery sectors.
With more than 20 years of experience spanning engineering, business transformation, strategic human resources, sustainability, organizational development and global people leadership, Mitra will lead the company’s people strategy, leadership development, talent management, organizational capability, culture transformation and overall human capital agenda.
Before joining Triveni Turbine, Mitra was on a sabbatical during which he authored the non-fiction book “People We Could Be”, advised startups and Global Capability Centers (GCCs) on business and people strategy, and supported organizations expanding into the Indian market. He also continued serving as an Advisor, Mentor and Guest Faculty (Professor of Practice) at institutions in India and Australia, mentoring leaders and contributing to business and transformation initiatives.
Prior to his sabbatical, Mitra served as Vice President & Global Head of Human Resources at KPIT, where he led the global HR function, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. He oversaw people strategies for more than 14,000 employees across 25+ countries, driving leadership development, organizational capability and culture transformation.
Earlier, he was Director of Human Resources at AppDirect, partnering with global leadership on people strategy, board governance, India compliance, CSR, policy frameworks, executive coaching and scaling the company’s high-growth technology business.
Mitra also served as Head of HR Strategy & HR Leader for the Global Capability Center at Cummins Inc., where he led long-term HR strategy for a workforce of more than 10,000 employees across multiple manufacturing locations and legal entities in India. He additionally led HR for the company’s Global Analytics and Capability Center while serving as an Ethics Investigator.
Before Cummins, he spent more than 4 years with Eaton, holding global HR leadership roles across Pune, Prague and Cleveland, where he led global talent strategy, HR business partnering, HR analytics and campus branding while supporting the establishment of a global engineering technology center.
Earlier in his career, Mitra spent nearly 8 years with Mahindra Rise, taking on leadership roles across engineering, product development, HR transformation, organizational development, talent management, HR strategy and mergers and acquisitions integration. He established the Mahindra Technical Academy (MTA) and contributed to the development of the mHawk turbo diesel engine programme for the Mahindra XUV500 before transitioning into strategic HR leadership.
Mitra holds a qualification in Human Resources, Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI Jamshedpur, completed between 2011 and 2013.
