Shoppers in India will now have more flexibility at checkout as Flipkart introduces a new credit service that allows customers to complete purchases and repay them through different options. The service has been launched in partnership with PayU Finance and is available across Flipkart, Myntra and Flipkart Minutes.

Flipkart Pay Later offers 3 repayment choices based on the purchase value and customer needs.

The first option provides up to 30 days to repay everyday purchases. The Pay in 3 option divides the purchase amount into 3 instalments.

For higher-value purchases such as smartphones, electronics, home appliances and furniture, customers can choose EMI plans ranging from 3 to 12 months. These EMI plans can also be used for frequent, lower-value purchases across Flipkart Minutes and categories including fashion, beauty, home and general merchandise.

The Pay Later programme has been launched in association with PayU Finance, the NBFC arm of PayU.

It already supports several payment methods, including UPI, wallets, credit and debit cards, net banking and EMI options. Cash on delivery is also available for select eligible products and locations. Customers can additionally use it’s gift cards and vouchers during checkout.

The new credit service comes shortly before it’s annual Freedom Sale in India. The sale is scheduled to begin on August 8, while Flipkart Plus and Flipkart Black members are expected to receive 24 hours of early access from August 7.

The company has not yet announced the sale’s end date. Purchases made using SBI credit cards will be eligible for a 10% instant discount.
