India’s energy storage market gains momentum with new large-scale battery partnership

As India continues expanding its renewable energy infrastructure, China-based battery manufacturer Eve Energy has announced a new partnership with India-based Godawari New Energy for large-scale battery supply.

Under the agreement, Eve Energy will initially supply 8 gigawatt-hours of energy storage batteries to Godawari New Energy. The companies stated that the supply capacity could increase to 60 gigawatt-hours over the next 5 years as India scales up its renewable power capacity.

The companies did not reveal the financial details of the agreement or provide a timeline for the first battery deliveries.

The partnership comes at a time when the global energy storage market is witnessing rapid growth. According to the report, the market crossed 100 gigawatts in 2025 and is projected to grow by 41% in 2026.

India’s energy storage sector is also expanding steadily. The country added nearly 0.9 gigawatt-hours of storage capacity in 2025 and is expected to add around 5.4 gigawatt-hours in 2026.

Industry estimates suggest that India’s energy storage market could reach 393 gigawatt-hours by 2036. If achieved, this would make India the world’s 6th-largest energy storage market.

The deal highlights growing investment and international collaboration in India’s renewable energy and battery storage ecosystem as demand for clean energy infrastructure continues to rise.
