People affected by cybercrime and online fraud will receive additional expert support through a new collaboration between Entrust and The Cyber Helpline, a non-profit organisation that helps victims of digital crime and online threats.

Under the partnership, Entrust will sponsor more than 3,200 hours of expert assistance for around 1,000 people across the US and UK. The company will also connect its identity and cybersecurity experts with specialists from The Cyber Helpline through mentoring and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The collaboration is aimed at expanding support available to people affected by online scams, identity theft and other cyber threats. The Cyber Helpline said 98% of people who report such incidents do not receive satisfactory support.

Rory Innes, CEO and Founder of The Cyber Helpline, said, “The Cyber Helpline was created because people experiencing cybercrime, fraud, and online harm need more than information or signposting. They need practical help from people who understand both the technology and the human impact of what has happened.”

He added that Entrust’s focus on identity protection and digital trust makes it a suitable partner for providing specialised cybersecurity expertise directly to victims. The partnership is also intended to help people better understand and control their situations.

Tony Ball, CEO at Entrust, said, “Behind every cybercrime statistic is a person whose life has been disrupted. We’re proud to partner with The Cyber Helpline to help more people get the expert support they need to recover and move forward with confidence.”

The Cyber Helpline provides free expert assistance for issues including account hacking, scams, cyberstalking and other online threats. It combines technology with trained cybersecurity volunteers and expert staff to provide round-the-clock self-help resources and confidential, personalised support.

Since its launch in 2018, the organisation has supported more than 2 million people and provided direct assistance to more than 100,000 individuals.
