In a new step into health technology, Zomato founder and Eternal chief Deepinder Goyal has announced pre-orders for Temple, a wearable device designed to track advanced health metrics. The device is now ready to ship for the first 100 customers who sign up early.
On X, Deepinder Goyal began his announcement with “Hello world,” and added, “We’re now inviting athletes, scientists, founders, doctors, creators, and individuals who care deeply about their physical and cognitive health to be the founding users of Temple.”
The Temple was first noticed last year when Goyal was seen wearing a small golden bean-shaped device near his right eyebrow. More recently, Olympic medalist PV Sindhu was also seen using it during the Uber Cup.
The device is being developed by Continue Research, with Goyal investing $25 million of his own funds into the project. According to him, Temple is built for “elite performance athletes” and can measure health metrics that no other wearable currently tracks, with high precision.
Interested users can pre-order the device through its official website by submitting contact details, including their social media angle, along with a note explaining what they expect from the product.
Goyal stated that his team “will get in touch with the selected few who we think will provide us the most critical feedback, and help us shape Temple’s future.” Selected users may also get “a chance to invest in the next round of funding for Temple.”
Temple is based on research focused on measuring brain flow accurately in real time and continuously. The device is claimed to study whether long-term changes in brain blood flow could accelerate ageing.
Goyal has previously said that brain flow is considered a biomarker for ageing, longevity and cognition. He also noted that the device could remain useful even if his gravity hypothesis does not prove correct.
However, some experts have raised concerns, calling the device “scientifically unsupported.”
Earlier, Goyal faced criticism when hiring for the project, stating that applicants should have body fat below 16 per cent for men and 26 per cent for women. Those who did not meet the criteria could still apply but would remain on probation until achieving it within 3 months.
