iPhone Air 2 leak hints at a 120Hz display and improved battery life

Apple’s next ultra-slim smartphone could address some of the limitations of the original iPhone Air, with a new leak pointing to improved battery capacity and an upgraded camera system. The rumoured iPhone Air 2 may also feature a 120Hz OLED display and could launch in spring 2027.

iPhone Air 2 specifications (expected)

According to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, the Air 2 could feature 2 rear cameras and a larger battery. The information, translated from Chinese, suggests Apple may focus on improving 2 areas where the first-generation model faced limitations.

The upcoming handset is tipped to feature a 6.55-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K+ resolution and a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate. Its screen size is also consistent with an earlier leak.

The device is expected to use an A20-series chipset built on a 2nm manufacturing process.

Battery capacity could increase to 3,500mAh, compared with 3,149mAh in the original iPhone Air. This would represent an increase of around 11%. If accurate, the larger battery could improve battery life and help narrow the hardware gap between the Air and other iPhone models.

The reported 3,500mAh capacity also matches an earlier claim from the same tipster, who cited supply chain sources.

Camera upgrades and expected launch

The iPhone Air 2 is tipped to feature a 48-megapixel primary rear camera alongside a new ultra-wide camera. This would replace the single rear camera found on the current model. The handset is also expected to retain Face ID for biometric authentication.

Reports suggest the iPhone Air 2 could launch in spring 2027 alongside the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.

For reference, Apple launched the original Air in September last year. The 256GB variant was priced at Rs. 1,19,900, while the 512GB and 1TB models cost Rs. 1,39,900 and Rs. 1,59,900, respectively.
